There is a large group of people in the world that believe that if we go green, thousand, if not millions of people, will be out of jobs.
Around the year of 1900 there was a large group of people who said that the invention of the horseless carriage would result in the loss of millions of jobs in the making of buggy whips.
These people set out petitions and demonstrated against the manufacturing of the automobiles because of this big loss.
The advent of the automobile manufacturing resulted in jobs more than a million fold. What would have happened if the buggy whip industry succeeded in their petitions? We would still be driving horse and carraiges setting our country back hundreds of years.
Today there are many people, even the news media, saying the same thing.
The question is. Will going green create the loss of jobs? The answer is a resounding yes. But, think of the thousands if not millions of jobs this will create.
It is a natural instinct for a person, who works in a pollution making industry, to fight to keep their position.
Going green is a movement in the right direction.
Thank God that the Governments of the world are behind this movement.
The industries that are against this direction, have a tremendous amount to loose.
They are going to fight as hard as they can. Even if they have to tell lies.
When you hear or read these adverse stories, think of the buggy whip industry and their effort to stop progress and save their jobs.

This is very true I was formerly employed in the oil/gas Industry. I was terminated in December however I am optomistic for the future. I believe that we need both at this time. I will tell you I have had some problems getting this download from gas2electric.com It kicked me off as soon as I tried to download and would not let me back on and I have had no response from thier support.

Far too long we have been violating our natural resources and destroying our own planet without considering the future generations. It is time to start cleaning up, picking up the garbage we have created and recycle what can be used in the development of green machinery. For over 100 years, there have been people working on green vehicles, even Ford had an electric vehicle. We have been conditioned to go with the mainstream and follow protocols and live within the box. Well, I like to think outside the box! Let us move forward to a better future, let us leave a better planet than that we were born into.

I agree. Changing technologies doesn’t mean the loss of jobs. It does mean changing jobs. Humans are very adaptable when given a chance. Unfortunately, we were well on our way to a greener economy over a decade ago with the 100% electric cars made by Saturn (GM) and Toyota. These cars got up to 200 miles per charge and we are all supposed to get excited about the ford Focus getting 40? The truth is truly awful about how Chevron Oil took over the NiMH batteries that powered these successful EVs. Check out Two Cents Per Mile by Cefo but be prepared to get really mad if you are an EV advocate like me….

Anyone on this site knows of someone that owned or owns either the Saturn or the Toyoita EV
and can vow to the fact that those vehicles made 200 miles on a single charge?????

To respond to David N.:
There are interviews in Two Cents Per Mile of two different Rav4EV owners. They both say they are getting a little over 100 miles per charge after using the same battery for seven years. The U.S. army apparently tested the NiMH and was getting up to 200. The average for all NiMH run Evs seems to come out right around 100.

Drawing that parallel between horse buggies and automobile industry is actually really funny. To me, we went from green -> not-green (buggies -> cars) resulting in millions of new jobs, and now we’re going from non-green -> green to result in millions of more jobs!

I donot think so, with the current administrations, I do not think they will lose a lot of jobs, a lot of dealers are making green cars so the current administration is satisfied.

I agree to what other believe. Really, a lot could lose their job. Although, there are still a lot of industries that could open when these green cars come into existence.
