Licensed and insured as a motorcycle, but driving as a car, the Myer’s Motors NMG (standing for No More Gas) is a single-seated vehicle that runs entirely on electricity. Plugging into a standard electric outlet, the car can fully charge in about six hours.
Featuring an AM/FM/CD stereo, electric windows and full instrumentation, the car certainly has a similar feel to automobiles. The transmission of the car is fully electronic, with only two settings: forward and reverse. The NMG has a very distinctive three-wheeled design that is quite distinctive and will definitely catch attention on the road. The NMG can reach top speeds of approximately 76 miles per hour, making it quite reasonable to drive as a commuter vehicle.
One of the greatest limitations on the NMG is its range. The NMG has a functional range of 30 miles. Unfortunately, that means that it does not fulfill the needs of a long-ranged driver. . A 30 mile range puts the NMG within reach of many other cheaper electric vehicles on the market. Many drivers travel less than that distance in their daily commutes. Combining that range with a smaller vehicle that makes for easier parking is a recipe for success in the urban environment. In fact, for a city driver, the NMG can be a dream come true. As a bonus, if you have the opportunity to recharge at work, you can have your employers pay for a portion of your commuting cost while essentially doubling your commuting range.
While a single-seated vehicle might not make for the perfect family car, it certainly functions for a single commuter or second family car. The distinctive design of the car makes for obvious corporate marketing opportunities. In fact, the cars have already seen screen time. While slightly altered, a golden NMG served as the car for Goldmember in the third installment of the Austin Power’s series. Myer’s Motors can be found on the web at http://www.myersmotors.com.
