Electric driven vehicles are popular for hobbyists and inventors because in many ways they are easier and safer to work with the gasoline engines. At the same time, because the connections between parts are via wires, they can lend to some interesting variations in size and shape of electric vehicles.
As a light hearted Friday look at electric vehicles, let us take a moment to look at some of the more odd things that have been made electrically mobile.
Let’s start with an old favorite, the electric couch. It makes for a comfortable place to sit as well as a convenient furniture centerpiece. With all that working for it, why not make it an electric vehicle too? A quick search of the net can find quite a few examples of motorized couches. The large frame makes for great battery storage and leads to a couple of different potential variations.
Chairs are fairly standard, as we’ve seen them in wheelchair models for some time and doing the same to a Lazy Boy or something like that just requires a change in scope. However, if you’re looking to multi-task, a search on YouTube found a cross between toilets and go carts.
However, when it comes to converting unusual things to electric form, the king of the field has to be Greg Solberg, a firmware engineer at Tesla Motors (the makers of the Tesla Roadster which we covered in the past). Working with his friends, he has converted a couch, and along with it an entire family room set (end table, love seat, lamp and more). However, in my humble opinion, while his giant electric cupcake is an impressive feat, his crowning achievement has to be his giant electrically powered pink bunny slippers. A picture has been included for your pure visual enjoyment.

You can read more about Greg’s exploits on the Tesla Motors blog.
