Electric cars are types of hybrid vehicles that not only offer freedom from the everyday increasing gas prices, but they don’t pollute the environment. Electric cars runs on electricity generated from batteries and are nearly two times more efficient than internal combustion engine vehicles.
Most electric cars run on at least 8-10 batteries that are located in the rear section of the passenger compartment. Due to this reason, the batteries need to be stored in a protective box and this ensures that when the batteries are getting charged, the fumes don’t enter the passenger compartment, which might cause health issues. Additionally, the battery box also acts as protective gear by keeping the batteries warm in the intense cold of winter.
Since, an electric car constantly uses batteries as fuel; the overheating of the batteries is checked by mounting an explosion proof brushless fan that ventilates the battery box even when the batteries are charging. It is mounted on the side of the box. Moreover, this fan is wired in a series, to another fan in the battery charger so that when the charger is switched on, the battery box fan is switched and thus it eliminates any cause for overheating.
Marine grade plywood, painted with water repellent paint is used to make the electric car battery box. A metal band secures the box, so that the weight of the batteries does’t damage the box apart from sudden impact as caused during accident.
